Miss Beverly Hills -

Drag Queen

The Story So Far

ONCE UPON A TIME........

in the United Kingdom, in the City of Newcastle, reknowned for its coal mines and shipyards,

on the banks of the Tyne , between two towns, amongst the hustle and bustle of the fishmakets and taverns was born a prince.

Little did this blond haired, blue eyed boy ( a true Geordie) realise he would be one day crowned  QUEEN.

Now that I have your attention the story begins.

I was born into a family of merchants selling wines and spirits, groceries, etc.

On leaving school I automatically tried the family trade, but after a long period and my fathers retirement, I decided to no longer follow his dream, but to follow my mothers.

She in her youth had been a beauty and to this day still remains so.  Her careeer as a model in a famous gown emporium gave her instant local fame and opened many doors for her to explore the other talents she posessed.  One of which she continues to this very day - singing to entertain those sho willingly pay to see her beauty and hear her voice.

Quite an act to follow, but follow it I did, starting as a male model, I travelled extensively and not only gained financial reward but also the wisdom and experience that can only be found by meeting so many different people.  On using this experience, I found myself working in nightclubs hiring well known acts from Europe and indeed throughout the world.  Some acts I have to say, should never have been booked, simply because anyone, even I could do better!

 There the challenge began.

Not having a great singing voice unlike mum, I tried what was all too popular in those days - the art of mime.

With the help of friends Paul, Jill, Tony and Sally (Michael ) a show was put together and Beverly was born.

Within months, she ( that's Beverly of course ) and I had travelled the length and breadth of the UK and indeed crossed to Germany, to Holland and to the Emerald Isle.  It was a great life, but the constant travelling between cities became too much and a decision had to be made.  From then on I remained in the north and ventured into theatre, radio and television, again gaining more experience.  A vacation was due. My closest friends, Tony, Neil, Jill and Kai brought me to a beautiful island in the sun where to this day I still reside. Leaving family and friends at home ( which was difficult ) a new path had to be tried.  Beverly soon followed and began working regularly, appearing in well established venues, local press and indeed national television and radio.  One night, to a full house, Beverly was introduced on stage no longer as Miss Beverly Hills, but as Beverly Hills, QUEEN of the Yumbo! ( Thanks Belinda X )

So there you have it.  The prince in his mothers eyes became a queen in the eyes of his peers.  A title of which I am honoured and grateful and will endeavour to fulfill my duties with impartiality, dignity and grace. ( as long as my legs hold out!! )

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
